On 4 September 2015 Eagles traded Matt to the Arizona Cardinals for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and were released on 3 September 2016.
On 4 September 2016, Matt signed to Chicago Bears’ and later on 10 March 2017 Barkley signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
