Rachel Maddow was born on 1 April 1973 to father Robert B. Maddow and mother Elaine Maddow in Castro Valley, California. Her mom was a school program administrator and she also wrote for the local paper while her dad is a former Air Force captain who quit to become a lawyer a year before Rachel was born.
Rachel Maddow grew up in a very conservative Catholic family near Oakland, California with her only sibling, an older brother named David Maddow.
As per her education, Rachel attended Castro Valley High School of California. During her high school days, she was very active in sports such as basketball, swimming, and volleyball. Later, in the year 1994, Rachel gained a degree in public policy from Stanford University. Rachel then received a Rhodes scholarship to pursue her postgraduate studies at Lincoln College and she holds a Ph.D. from Oxford.
